Our Instructor: Michele Brown
Michele Brown has been working professionally as an Obedience trainer for over 7 years. She has trained under two Master Trainers and has helped her clients create a lasting bond between owner and canine.
Before becoming a professional dog trainer, Michele earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Management, as well as a Master's in Education. Additionally, she serves as an Evaluator for the AKC Canine Good Citizen and STAR Puppy Program.
Michele has earned numerous 5 star reviews for her work with Board & Trains as well as Private lessons in dog training. Her experience in Group Dog training as well as public outing training work has been invaluable experience in understanding both canine behavior and everyday situations most pet dog owners face. Her philosophy on dog training is that we all must learn the natural instincts of our dog, what motivates them and how to achieve the balance of letting our dogs be dogs while creating fair boundaries and expectations.
Michele is well versed on all tools and techniques of obedience training and has trained her own personal dogs for over 30 years. She has owned Golden Retrievers for 30 years and trained her most recent Golden to be a Therapy dog. Currently she has 2 German Shepherds that have received their Advanced CGC. She has also worked for 3 years in a breeding program for West German Shepherds in whelping and raising litters as well as experience in managing boarding kennels locally.
Her passion is helping her clients see the true potential in their dogs and showing every dog how to become confident, well behaved and happy in the most organic and enjoyable way possible.

Basic Manners
By the end of the program, you and your dog will have mastered foundational skills.
The following is a list of skills and behaviors that will be addressed and refined during the class:
- Sit, down, stay, come, place, and more. -
Proper behavior at doorways and around food bowls.
- Developing strong focus and attention, even in the presence of distractions.
- Addressing problematic behaviors such as jumping.
Many dogs may already have some proficiency in the above commands prior to the start of the class. If this applies to you, our focus will be on helping you teach your dog to perform these commands reliably in the presence of various distractions in the classroom

Intermediate Obedience/ Canine Good Citizen Prep Class
During this Class your dog will refine his obedience skills and work on achieving the Canine Good Citizen award.
AKC Canine Good Citizen Test Items:
Accepting a friendly stranger
Sitting politely for petting
Appearance and grooming
Out for a walk (loose leash walking)
Walking through a crowd
Sit and down on command and staying in place
Coming when called
Reaction to another dog
Reaction to distraction
Supervised separation

Puppy Manner Class
AKC STAR PUPPY CLASS
This class covers everything you need to ensure your puppy starts off on the right paw. You will learn all the necessary puppy essentials, including: Toilet Training, Crate Training, Play Biting, and Basic Obedience.

In general, puppies can start puppy socialization classes as early as
7-8 weeks of age.
Puppies should
receive a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class and a first deworming. They should be kept up-to-date on vaccines throughout the class.
